umni are important to us and act as great inspiration for present members, we intend on building this section to show stories of our Sussex law graduates and where they find themselves today. A great example for our society has been Marcus Hayes, managing partner at Mason Hayes Solicitors – an alumnus who has benefited the legal community as a whole, given back to our law society and inspired the university that supported his academic development.

Having completed both my undergraduate LLB and first LLM Masters at Sussex, I am now at UCL studying towards my second LLM in International Commercial Law at UCL whilst also acting as co-Managing Director of a new start-up, London Law Tutor Ltd. My time at Sussex, aided by the tremendous efforts of the Law Society, has put me in a strong position in relation to my future career. Networking events arranged by the Law Society were the beginning of a long series of networking opportunities that have given me useful contacts and that “foot in the door” when it comes to work experience and mini-pupillages.

During my three years at Sussex the University and the Law Society gave me so much. Surrounded by inquisitive peers and stimulating teachers it helped to stretch my imagination, diversify my perspective and push and challenge my comfort level. In encouraging me to challenge convention and to think independently, Sussex not only provided a great academic education but gave me tremendous self confidence upon graduation to go out and achieve whatever I wanted to achieve in life. Fortunately for me and thanks to the University and the Law Society, that is what I have managed to do.
